Herein are the musings and maunderings of my thoughts as I go through my art life.
Mediterranean Heat - 24x30, oil on canvas, $2000.00
This painting was inspired from a wee oil sketch I had done on a European trip awhile back. It was one of those paintings that took longer than expected to complete. As every time I looked at the sketch, I saw more little things to be added, such as poles, wires, SAT dishes and then the roof lines...abit of a nightmare! However, I eventually finished it! I thought to myself, it's a good painting and hopefully it will find a home. I never thought it would win 1st place at a recent Juried Federation of Canadian Artist's show, but it did.... So, maybe it is about being the turtle!
Morning Row - 24x24, SOLD.
Better Late Than Never! I have been meaning to post this image for months, but life sure gets in the way....
I am honoured on being selected to Ducks Unlimited Canada 2018 National Art Portfolio with this painting, "Morning Row". This painting was inspired while kayaking one early misty morning.
FLIGHT - 12x24, oil on gallery canvas, $600.00
I live near a bird santuary on a body of water called the lagoon, that is situated behind the ocean, how cool is that! Being an avid hiker or morning power walker, I have an amazing route that takes me around the lagoon. Since it is a bird santurary, I get to view many different types of.... However, the Blue Heron is one of my favourites. When I watch them, I find them beautiful in colour and shape, their personality is another story....goofy! The best viewings are when 35 are hanging out together, it usually stops me in my tracks!
MEMORIES OF THE BACK ALLEY
I recently participated in the 5th Annual Ashcroft Plein-Air Paintout, sponsored by the amazing Winding Rivers Arts and Performance Society. It was a full weekend of plein air painting with 54 other artists....need I say more! Next time I am going to bring my Cowgal hat.
